Scooter, TV, Furniture, Mom, Thanksgiving
So the three day weekend was nice.
We've been visiting Scooter quite often and he's almost done with his stay - he'll be "free" tomorrow. He's going to be so excited! Dog toys and bones are so expensive here that I'm going to put in a huge order to the mainland to ship here. Along with flea meds (again, cheaper.) It's a ton of toys. But I figure we'll save the "holiday" ones for christmas. The rest of them will be put away and taken out as needed (ie as he de-stuffs them). My dog is more spoiled than amy and I were as children combined!
We've also got other big things coming up. For example, the TV will arrive today (and yes, it's big). And the loveseat, ottoman and recliner arrive on Thursday. Hurrah, we will have furniture!
Our stuff from the mainland still hasn't arrived yet. Well, the boat arrived last Tuesday. But our stuff has yet to be delivered to our apartment - they haven't called us yet; our cr@p is probably in the back of the boat.
I'm also excited to go to Kmart so we can get a dining set and other necessities (like trash cans for the bathrooms). I made pancakes the other day and realized that I had no measuring utensils! So, again...another necessity. OOhhH! Maybe we'll wake up early enough and maybe I'll REMEMBER to take amy to the farmer's market on Saturday. Hawaii has the best ones, I swear. Not only do all the people come out to sell veggies, but other local food places show up and there's usually someone singing and playing the guitar or ukulele. it's practically a fair! One of the booths sold all kinds of spring rolls from thai to salmon & cream cheese. They also made this amazing cheesy polenta AND little cheesy cakes that were made with hmmm. Not orzo. Not couscous. But something that makes me think of those....and it was delicious.
Wow. I'm hungry. LOL!
Mom's in the hospital. Again. But let's hope this is the last time - surgery. The surgeon called my dad yesterday and said everything went great. Hopefully this will be the end of the troubles and my mom can have a somewhat normal life again. I hope she's out in time for Thanksgiving. I'm thinking of doing a full-on Thanksgiving this year since it's Amy AND my parents. I saw a Barefoot Contessa where she made the meal with cornish game hens. Hmmm. I wonder if I can find those around here. If not, it's BUTTERBALL!!!
